Information
From the very first day of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was clear that it would not merely become a physical health crisis. In order to control the spread of the virus, a massive behavioral shift was demanded from the population almost overnight, touching people at their very core: their freedom was drastically curtailed, and their social contacts had to be minimized. It was immediately apparent that this would also become a psychological and motivational crisis.
For more than two years — and across more than 90 measurement points — the Motivation Barometer project collected empirical data on public support for the measures, motivational engagement, and the psychological well-being of the population.
In this closing symposium, we took a helicopter view to reflect on these findings. We aimed to bundle important psychological lessons and engage in discussion about them with other disciplines, policymakers, the media, and the broader public (e.g., study participants).
